Veerle Buurman has officially joined Chelsea on a 4 year deal from PSV, where she will return on loan for the 2024/25 season.
Veerle Buurman is a 18-year-old Dutch centre-back who has turned heads at PSV in the Eredivisie and Cup last season. Buurman made 14 appearances across both competitions.
Buurman is apart of the 2024 under-19 World Cup, where she has made 4 appearances and scored 2 goals. The Netherlands will play the hosts this Saturday, so there is still time for Buurman to impress even more.
In an interview for Chelsea Buurman said “This is the perfect step for my career.
"Chelsea’s vision for my development aligns perfectly with my own.”
She also said: "I’m happy to spend another year at PSV, continuing to develop at the highest level in the Netherlands."
With hopefully maintaining regular minutes for PSV, Buurman will gain more experience and then head to the WSL soon.
Chelsea fans will have to wait a little longer to see her debut for them but with a young defender the sky is the limit.
