After three and a half years with Manchester City, Alanna Kennedy has decided to pursue the next chapter in her career as she pens a one-year contract with NWSL side Angel City FC.

The Australia international joined Manchester City in the 2021 from Tottenham Hotspur and went on to make 64 appearances in the infamous Sky-Blue shirt, including 15 this season.
Fans raised their suspicions that Kennedy was leaving after she was notably missing from the squad that secured a 4-2 victory over rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Kennedy confirmed the rumours, bidding farewell to Manchester City.
“I am leaving with a lot of amazing memories,” Kennedy wrote.
“I’ve had some real career highlights playing for this team and made some friends for life.
“I want to thank my teammates. It’s been a privilege to play alongside you all and I wish all of you continued success for the rest of the season and beyond.”
Kennedy’s move marks her return to the US, where she previously played for Western New York Flash and Orlando Pride.
The 30-year-old’s new contract sees her staying stateside until 2025, with a mutual extension option available to 2026 if both the player and club agree.
In a statement provided by Angel City, Kennedy has said: “I am really excited to join Angel City and return to the NWSL.
“I was inspired by the club’s mission and purpose, and I am looking forward to arriving in LA and meeting all my teammates.
“Equally, I am excited to get to work and contribute to the team’s success on the field.”
