The Scottish national team goalkeeper had been at City for two-and-a- half years having arrived in 2022.

MacIver originally joined the Blues academy in 2015 from Everton, before she made a return to the toffees in 2020 where she continued to make a positive impression. After helping Everton avoid relegation MacIver rejoined Manchester City in 2021/22 signing a three-year contract.
MacIver has made five appearances for the Scotland Women’s national team and kept two clean sheets. She also made 11 appearances for Manchester City: The 26-year-old has been on the sideline since April 2024 due to her tearing her anterior cruciate ligament.
Washington Spirits are looking to build on a second-placefinish in the NWSL this upcoming season.
General Manager Mark Krikorian said: “She will provide valuable depth at the goalkeeper position as we head into an important season.”
Upon signing MacIver said: “I’m looking forward to joining a world-leading club and organisation.
“The Spirit is an ambitious team and I’m excited to be part of it.”
