It has been announced that Manchester City's summer signing, Vivianne Miedema has undergone a knee surgery, despite the club originally stating that her injury was a 'small niggle.'
Miedema most recently played in Manchester City's UEFA Women's Champions league victory against current holders Barcelona. Miedema played the full 90 minutes, assisting the first goal of the game from Naomi Layzell.
Vivianne Miedema made the move from Arsenal to Manchester in the summer transfer window. The Dutch international previously suffered from an ACL injury in late 2022, and his since gone on to have many setbacks within her recovery. In the summer of 2023, Miedema underwent another surgery to remove scar tissue, allowing her to progress in her recovery, before returning to team training in September. Miedema made her return to the game in October, making her comeback against Bristol City.
There is no current timeline on the injury and Manchester City stated in their social media post that Miedema will 'begin a period of rehabilitation at the City Football Academy.'
Soon after this update was announced, Miedema took to her own social media with a caption saying 'done it before will do it again'.
