First half:

The game got underway at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea immediately pushed forward with their strong attacking threat. Macario received the ball which she then distributed it perfectly to Lucy Bronze’s foot - Bronze volleyed it straight into the back of the net and put Chelsea ahead in the first minute.

Chelsea continued to have bright sparks going forward and had a large number of set piece opportunities through corners.

Throughout the duration of the first half, Celtic showed clear intent to steal the ball away from Chelsea however Chelsea maintained possession and Celtic struggled to find any real openings.

Daugherty, who was in between the goalposts for Celtic, did a good job to keep the score at 1-0 for as long as she did. Chelsea’s forwards had attempts on goal however Daugherty managed to keep them out of the net.

After a short corner was taken, Chelsea players had a few passes played between each other Guro Reiten sent the ball into the box with her left foot and Wieke Kaptein got on the end of the ball with her head and this found the back of the net.

2-0 - Kaptein 25’

For the remaining twenty minutes of the first half, the possession was maintained by the home side however, Celtic did not look to be giving up and their loud away fans continued to push their team through the game.

HALF TIME: CHELSEA 2 - 0 CELTIC

Bompastor made the decision to start the second half with Mayra Ramirez entering the pitch and replacing Catarina Macario. Ramirez scored for Chelsea over the weekend against Manchester City and provides a strong attacking threat for her side.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, who has been on form for Chelsea this season,  had an attempt but this attempt was fired over the goal and kept the scoreline at 2-0.

Celtic had no real opportunity in the second half but their determination showed and substitutions were made to try and have an impact on the game. Cross, S. Carstens, Noonan, M. Carstens and Kerner were all introduced onto the pitch to try and be the difference makers for the Glasgow side.

In the 85th minute, a special moment took place at Stamford Bridge as Seventeen year old Lola Brown made her way onto the pitch. Lola Brown signed her first professional contract for the club earlier this week and she had described it as a dream being a Chelsea fan her whole life.

Brown was greeted by the Chelsea fans with a warm reception and cheers when she had the opportunity to be on the ball.

In the 93rd minute of the game, Eve Perisset calmly converted her first goal for Chelsea through a penalty. Chelsea won this penalty after Celtic player Mcgregor handled the ball which gave the referee no other decision than to give the penalty to Chelsea.

3-0 - Périsset (penalty) 95’

Full time: 3-0

The game ended 3-0 and Chelsea had solidified their place in the next round of the competition. Celtic definitely have moments to be proud of in both fixtures, however they are still yet to find a point and cannot qualify for the next stage.
