Brighton Hold Spurs Level at the Broadfield Stadium.

Two second-half goals see Tottenham draw 1-1 away from home to Brighton. A fairly equally matched game leaves the two sides stationary in the table on day one of the match weekend: Brighton fifth with 17 points, and Spurs trailing at sixth with 11.

The two sides lined up as expected, with Spurs still missing a key figure in Becky Spence, who was out due to a recent illness.

The first half was fairly uneventful, with few early chances coming from the hosts, who appeared the slightly stronger side.

Despite a marginally wide shot from Jelena Čanković and a successful save from Eleanor Heeps to keep Nikita Parris out of the net, Spurs’ defence remained solid going into halftime, with no goals scored.

At halftime, Brighton introduced 18-year-old loanee Michelle Agyemang as a substitute for Pauline Bremer. Spurs took a similar approach seven minutes later, with Maite Oroz making way for Martha Thomas.

The second half immediately picked up pace compared to the first, with yellow cards issued to both sides - Jorelyn Carabalí for the Seagulls and Amanda Nildén for Spurs.

Beth England broke the deadlock in the 75th minute, scoring her third goal in two WSL games, wonderfully assisted by Martha Thomas. Brighton responded by replacing Čanković with Bruna Vilamala. Just a minute later, left-back Marisa Olislagers surprised everyone with a spectacular first goal for the club, volleying into the far corner from a tight angle.

In the 83rd minute, play was halted due to a medical emergency in the crowd. After about 12 minutes, the game resumed, but neither side managed to find a winning goal.

This draw extended Spurs’ unbeaten run to four games across all competitions, while Brighton broke their two-season-long home losing streak against Tottenham.
