Sunday afternoon marks the return of Arsenal to the King Power Stadium in the second week of the Women’s Super League.
Arsenal, under the guidance of Jonas Eidevall, have established themselves as one of the league's premier teams, while Leicester City Women continue their journey of growth and development in top-flight football.
In their first game of the season, Arsenal took on Manchester City at the Emirates. The points were shared after Beth Mead equalised in the 81st minute. A clinical performance from both sides provided fans with an array of talent on display, but neither team were able to remain ahead, leaving the result as 2-2.
Leicester faced Liverpool away at St Helens Stadium for their opening fixture, resulting in a 1-1 draw. Leicester conceded in the final seconds of added time within the first half, after Sophie Haug headed the ball in from a set piece. Leicester then equalised in the 53rd minute after Rantala conducted a successful 1v1 with the goalkeeper, effortlessly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
The most recent meeting between the two sides occurred in May when they faced each other in the final weeks of the 2023/24 season. Arsenal walked away victorious with a 3-0 lead, all thanks to a brace from Beth Mead and a goal from Alessia Russo.
Jonas Eidevall reflected on last season's away fixture against the Foxes calling it a "reminder in the the importance of being switched on" after the side fell two goals behind before going on to claim victory.
Arsenal will still be without Vice-Captain, Leah Williamson, who is undergoing concussion protocol. Steph Catley and Victoria Pelova will also be unavailable.
