Swansea City Women FC VS Barry Town United Women

As the rain lashes down in Swansea, both starting elevens take to the pitch for kick-off at 2pm (BST) at Swansea.com Stadium.

This game kicks off week 2 of the Genero Adran Premier 24/25 campaign.


Barry Town start the game with number 9 Keira Harris taking kick-off.


An immediate attempt comes for the Dragons, which flies straight over the net into the stands. A press from Barry puts pressure on the Swans but is easily cleared by Brisland-Hancocks. A cross from Thomas falls into the box for John-Davis in the 5th minute, but is headed just over the bar.  


Barry takes a free kick from the edge of their own box, opting to pass straight back to the keeper. They attempt a press which falls straight into the hands of Claire Skinner. The ball falls to the edge of the box for Swansea, but Pinder can’t make a connection.


A long ball for Barry falls to the far corner and is knocked out for a throw in. Nia Jones pings the ball up the field, which is hand-balled by Trivett, giving a free kick to Barry. Pinder's goal is ruled offside, however the pressure remains on for both sides. 


Thomas speeds down the right but cannot reach the ball before it rolls out, giving Barry a goal kick.Hosfords press is good but none of the whitescan connect with her cross.


At the 15 minute mark, Keira Harris forces Skinner to fumble, however can’t net the ball before Skinner clears it. Keira Harris is brought down by Williams, and receives a free kick to the left of the box, which is cleared by Williams. Lauren Harris takes a rebound shot at goal which is saved by Skinner.


Swansea receive an edge of the box free kick in the 19th minute, taken by Katy Hosford, which flies out of bounds. Another attempt from Hosford is cleared for a Swansea corner. The corner hits the side netting, providing a Barry goal kick.


A throw in for Barry falls to Murray in the box, whose shot clips the bar before going out. Shouts for a penalty come as Arnesen picks up a back pass, however the referee does not call for a penalty. 


A through ball from Hosford lands at the feet of John-Davis, which is shot just wide of the left post. Another long ball from Williams is played straight into the hands of Arnesen. A cross from Brisland-Hancocks is cleared from the box by Arnesen.


Trivett picks up the ball at the edge of the box but can’t convert a cross. Long’s run was knocked out by Broadhurst in the 33rd minute. Pinder's shot deflected off the bar into the arms of Arnesen, who knocked the ball out of play.


Hosford shoots from the edge of the box and is narrowly saved, but deflected out from a corner. Williams shoots from the corner but can’t find the back of the net. Hosford crosses again but can’t keep the ball in play.


And the first half finishes 0-0, with chances coming from both sides, however no conversions. Swansea lead the game with the amount of chances produced and shots taken, however Barry have had a good press and put pressure on the Swansea defence.


Neither team made changes at half time. John-Davis receives a yellow card in the 48th minute, coming from a mistimed tackle. Swansea bring on Deacon to replace Trivett. Deacon is immediately fouled in the box but is not awarded a penalty.


A long ball from Williams is just too powerful and rolls out of reach of Thomas. A second long ball comes from Williams an hour in, but Deacon can’t connect. Barry pushed down the left wing however the ball ran out of play.


A double substitution came from Barry in the 63rd minute, with Keira Harris and Jasmine Turner leaving the field, being replaced by Ellie Preece and Sienna Stone. Swansea bring off Broadhurst, with Maddy Murray coming on to replace her.


Barry Town continued to press up the field, with a strong push coming from Aadland, however the ball was cleared downfield by Skinner. 


And a second offside goal for Swansea! This time coming from Stacey John-Davis. Barry Town makes another substitution, bringing off Gunney, who  is replaced by Corne. A header from Hosford comes so close, but is cleared off the line. Barry received a free kick within their own box due to a handball.


Stone outran Thomas down the right wing, however cannot pass Williams. A shot fired by Maddy Murray curls right of the post. Amy Long gets tackled within Barry’s half, and receives a free kick for her side. Thomas plays an incredible ball into the box for John-Davis, who once again can’t convert.


Murray fouls Long, who receives another free kick. Two more substitutions came for Barry Town, seeing Aaland and Murray making way for Attwood and Tiley respectively in the 82nd minute. A diving header is narrowly missed by Deacon, who can’t meet John-Davis’ ball at the edge of the six yard box.


A free kick from Brisland-Hancocks deflects off the post, but the rebound cannot be found. Hosfords cross once again hits the side netting, the final chance of the game as we reach the final whistle, the game remaining goalless.
