On Thursday, we will see Arsenal Women go head to head with the Italian side, Juventus, at Emirates Stadium. Here is everything you need to know:
Arsenal have had a rough start to their 24/25 season campaign with their manager Jonas Eidevall leaving the club, but things seem to be looking up for Gunners whilst being under interim coach Renee Slegers, as they have been undefeated in their last six games. Meanwhile, Juventus are currently sitting first place in the Serie A Femminile table and are four points clear.
The last time these two sides met was during the reverse fixture on November 12th, where Arsenal smashed the Italian side 4-0. Previous meetings also saw Arsenal being more dominant, beating Juventus 1-0 on December 7 2022, alongside a 1-1 draw in November of the same year. Juventus fans in particular will be nervous for this match, as they must defeat the gunners to get into the top two of group C.
Juventus’ previous starting lineup against the reds saw a 3-4-3 formation with Pauline Peyraud-Magnin in goal and Martina Lenzini at right back. Eva Schatzer and Arianna Caruso were partnered in midfield with Amalie Vangsgaard up front. We could expect a similar lineup, but with a few changes in formation to bring in a stronger defence.
Arsenal’s previous starting lineup against Juventus saw a 4-3-3 formation, with Daphne Van-Domselaar in goal and Katie McCabe at left back. Goalscorer Frida Maanum was placed in midfield alongside Lia Walti and Kim Little, with Beth Mead and Caitlin Foord on the wings and Alessia Russo in her usual position as a 10. We could expect a similar lineup, but with a few changes like bringing in Spanish internationals Mariona Caldentey and Laia Codina.
DAZN will be streaming this match on their YouTube channel and the link for this can be found here.
