What Colour Will North London Be?

Writer: Jenny SlaterJenny Slater

This weekend, we will see Arsenal take on Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby, taking place on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are expecting over 55,000 fans to join them for what is expected to be a fantastic afternoon of football.

Ahead of this weekend, Arsenal are comfortably sat in 3rd place in the WSL table, with Tottenham finding themselves in 6th, 10 points behind the Gunners.

Last time the two teams played together was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season, where Arsenal put 3 goals past the Lilywhites, with no reply, Alessia Russo being the first to score just two minutes in.

Spurs have struggled this season so far with conceding goals, so this will be something that Robert Vilahamn will be looking to fix ahead of the big day.

Arsenal are “looking forward” to Sunday, with Renée Slegers stating in her press conference, “On Sunday, playing at Emirates Stadium, we know the pitch will be very nice and we look forward to it because it’s going to help our passing game and our technical game, so we definitely look forward to the game on Sunday because of the pitch, but mostly because it’s the north London derby and I think we have 55,000 tickets sold at the moment. We’re really looking forward to Sunday."

Arsenal fans are hoping to see Chloe Kelly make her re-debut for the club this weekend, after being ruled out of the Manchester City games in the last couple of weeks. Victoria Pelova, who ruptured her ACL in May 2024 while playing for the Netherlands, played in an under 21 game last week, putting her closer and closer to being back on the pitch with her teammates.

Robert Vilahamn confirmed that Ella Morris and Drew Spence are in contention for playing on Sunday after returning from injury. Eveliina Summanen and Kit Graham are still missing out.

Arsenal have won all four of their home games against Tottenham, so will be hoping for another win this weekend. Spurs will be eager to come out on top, but only time will tell to see who will be the winner of the North London Derby.

The game kicks off at 12:30 at the Emirates Stadium, and will be available to watch on BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.
