We are back in Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) action after an extremely busy international break with a game week fifteen fixture with Tottenham facing Manchester City at Brisbane Road.

This is the second time the teams will face each other this season, with the most recent fixture being in game week seven of the WSL with Man City gaining the three points with a 4-0 win over Spurs.


The teams have faced each other fifteen times previously in all competitions, with Man City gaining 12 wins, a draw and Tottenham gaining 2 wins from the fifteen

The Action

We start the game with Tottenham Hotspurs, Drew Spence, kicking us off into the first half of the Barclays WSL match


Tottenham gain an early chance in the second minute, with ashot from captain, Bethany England, from just outside the box but her shot is unfortunately too wide, and the shot ends up hitting the side of the net

Tottenham gain a corner, which is whipped in, but the Lily Whites fail to convert from it


Moments later, Ella Morris makes an attempt to break the deadlock and gain Spurs the first goal of the game with a shot from outside the box, but her shot is too high and wide and goes over the top of the crossbar


Aoba Fujino crosses the ball into the box, straight onto the head of Vivianne Miedema, and Miedema heads the ball in, flying past Lize Kop’s hands and into the back of the net in the twelfth minute


Martha Thomas makes an attempt to gain the equaliser with a shot from the right of the box, but her shot lands in Ayaka Yamashita’s hands


Khadija Shaw makes an attempt to gain City a second, but hercentral box headed shot is too high


Olivia Holdt crosses the ball into the box and captain Bethany England gains the equaliser for the North London club with a right footed shot from the centre of the box, into the top left corner of the net

Halftime – Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Manchester City

 

We are back in the second half with Man City kicking us back off


The half starts with a lengthy break in play within the minute due to a nasty collision between Bethany England and Ayaka Yamashita, both players are able to continue


Matilda Vinberg attempts to win the first goal of the half forTottenham with a right footed shot from the centre of the box but misses to the left.


Laura Blindkidle Brown crosses the ball towards Yui Hasegawa, who makes a left footed shot from just outside the box but her shot lands in the hands of Lize Kop in the bottom left of the goal


Miedema makes another attempt moments later with a headed shot from a cross by Ouahabi, but her shot is blocked


Aoba Fujino gains the Cityzens a second, breaking away from the 1-1 draw, with a left footed shot from the centre of the box after weaving through the Spurs defence and her shot scrapespast Lize Kop and lands in the top left of the net


Ella Morris takes a right footed shot to attempt to gain Spurs an equaliser back from just outside the box but is too high following a set piece situation.


Jess Park takes a right footed shot from very close range to gain City a third, but misses to the right
