Sonia Bompastor’s Chelsea Dominance Continues as Chelsea Beat Everton 5-0 Away from Home.

In the last of the Women’s Super League matches this weekend, Everton hosted Chelsea at Goodison park. A game of which proved Chelsea do not seem to be slowing down and also showing that Everton’s injury problems could really be affecting them.

Ahead of this game, Chelsea had won all 4 games played so far; Everton on the other hand, had played 5 games and had no wins. Now, Chelsea sit second in the table with 15 points in 5 games played with a game in hand, closely following Manchester City. Unfortunately for Everton, they are currently sitting bottom of the table with just two points in 6 games.

Everton got the game underway and within the first minute, Chelsea charged forward with a shot taken from Aggie Beever-Jones which was soon claimed by Courtney Brosnan. Chances came in a flurry for Chelsea with Rytting Kaneryd also having a chance early on.

The deadlock was broken in the 13th minute as Buchanan sent the ball perfectly into the box with Beever-Jones heading it in above Brosnan.

Everton had some chances going forward but these were limited and they were soon cleared away by Chelsea’s defense.

Chelsea’s dominance continued in the closing stages of the first half and the away side found themselves 0-2 up after a goal from Scottish international Erin Cuthbert.

Just moments later, Guro Reiten adds a third to Chelsea’s tally with a diving shot - putting Chelsea in a comfortable position just seconds before half time.

HALF TIME: Everton 0-3 Chelsea

Both sides started the second half with changes with Hamano being replaced by Kaptein for Chelsea and for Everton, Hobson being replaced by Wheeler and Payne replaced by Bissell.

The second half started similarly to the first, with Chelsea’s attack charging forward and one chance by Rytting Kaneryd was claimed fantastically by Brosnan.

Everton had few but well portrayed chances when on the attack, but Hampton came into the game when needed, maintaining her clean sheet.

Close to the 70th minute mark, Beever-Jones found herself in the book with a yellow card after an interference with Everton goalkeeper Brosnan.

Sandy Baltimore came extremely close to adding to Chelsea’s tally after the French international hit the bar.

Chelsea’s first goalscorer of the evening Aggie Beever-Jones was replaced by Maelys Mpome after a slight knock which seemed to be affecting the England international.

Substitute Kaptein - who was a doubt for this game after departing the Netherlands camp early - added to the scoreline in the 82nd minute, this marked the 19 year olds first goal for Chelsea in the Women’s super league.

Just two minutes later, Lawrence made it five for the visitors after finding herself in a forward position.

Unfortunately for Everton, in a night to forget, Sarri went down with a painful looking injury and she could not continue meaning she was replaced by Thomas in the 4th minute of additional time.

The referee blew her whistle for full time and after a dominant performance for Chelsea, they took the 3 points after winning 0-5. For Everton, their start to the season is one which they will be hoping to build on as they now sit bottom of the table.

Everton next take the trip to London to face Crystal Palace, a must win game for the Toffees. Chelsea make the journey to the North West in consecutive weekends, where they will next face Liverpool.
