VfL Wolfsburg captain Alexandra Popp has extended her contract with the club, keeping her there until 2026!

Alex Popp joined Wolfsburg in 2012, making 219 appearances and scoring 112 goals. The German international recently hung up her boots on her international career, which subsequently led to questions about her club career, but the club has announced that she will keep on playing until at least 2026.
During her career at Wolfsburg, Popp has won 3 Champions League titles and has scored the winning goal in the league to secure Wolfsburg the title. In addition to this, she has also won 7 league titles and 13 DFB-Pokal Frauen cups, and there is no doubt that she will be wanting to add to this tally.
This season Popp has hit the ground running with 8 games played, 4 goals and 3 assists.
Wolfsburg are currently top of the table, with only one point separating them and rivals FC Bayern Munich. Wolfsburg will need Popp more than ever if they want to win the league this season.
Alex Popp has been an ever-present figure for Wolfsburg and even with growing older the striker shows no signs of slowing down just yet. This extension will take her up to the age of 35, which is a common age of retirement, but nothing is ever a certain in football.
