Sonia Bompastor and Chelsea captain Millie Bright spoke to the media ahead of Chelsea’s UEFA Women’s Champions league quarterfinal game against Manchester City.

Regarding team news, Bompastor stated that there are no new injuries from the weekend's game and gave positive news by stating that Keira Walsh is back in contention after missing a few games through injury.
On Keira Walsh, Sonia Bompastor described Walsh returning from injury as
“A real boost which gives even more options for the game.”
In Chelsea’s last game, they beat Manchester City and Bompastor stated that the side have looked back on that game and will take aspects of that into the first game of the two legs.
After Chelsea’s excellent defensive performance on Saturday, Millie Bright was asked if the defenders hope tomorrow will be more quiet for the Chelsea defense.
As a defender, Bright discussed how her and her teammates love defending and she described city as a top top team with a good attacking threat, yet also highlighted how she wants to nullify City’s chances on goal.
After the teams meeting on Saturday, there is a chance that Manchester City’s loss will have fuelled more determination into their players. Bright stated that Chelsea are wary of threats that may be put infront of the Chelsea side but Chelsea are confident in themselves and what they can bring to the game. Bright related this scenario to Chelsea being in the same situation, losing trophies and then wanting to bounce back.
Manchester City’s Khadija Bunny Shaw will miss this game through injury. Millie Bright stated that:
“The mindset remains the same and Manchester City have players who can step into Bunny’s role and pose a threat.”
In an unusual scenario, Chelsea and Manchester City face eachother consecutively four times. Reflecting on Bompastor’s previous experiences, she talked about how she has previously faced PSG seven one times in a season. Bompastor highlighted that her team are taking the fixtures game by game and their main focus is on tomorrow’s fixture.
Mayra Ramirez scored a crucial goal in Saturday’s game to help Chelsea lift their first trophy of the season. Bompastor had lots of praise for Ramirez stating that:
“Mayra is a top class player, she’s strong and powerful and causes trouble to all backlines.”
The Chelsea Manager then praised the rest of her squad stating that she’s “Pleased to have a lot of talented players in the squad.”
Millie Bright, who has significant experience in the competition described how Champions league games excite her and called it
“A special competition.”
The captain then went on to talk about how Chelsea’s mentality in all games is to win and their mentality has tightened up and gone to a new level this season.
