Canadian international, Shelina Zadorsky, has signed a permanent contract with West Ham United after a successful 6-month loan spell gaining 10 appearances for the team.
Zadorsky moved to West Ham from Tottenham Hotspurs after three years with the club, making 71 appearances all together in her time with the club. Shelina plays in centre back and left back for the Hammers.
Zadorsky is a committed member for her country, having made over 100 appearances for Canada and been part of the sides that won Olympic gold and bronze at the Tokyo 2020 and Rio 2016 Games respectively, while also recently appearing for her country as they contested the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Shelina has become Rehanne Skinners fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Kinga Szemik, Shekeira Martinez, Camila Sáez and Inés Belloumou.
Zadorsky is an amazing addition to the team with her speed, tackling and cross accuracy which could really help West Ham in the 24/25 season of the WSL (Women’s Super League).
The centre back also has captaincy experience under her belt from the 21/22 season for Tottenham under Rehanne Skinner which could have her in the running for captain since hammers captain Mackenzie Arnold left the club at the end of the 23/24 season.
When a fan [@hayes_lesley via X] was asked their thoughts and opinions on the Canada international making her time at West Ham permanent, they stated: “I am absolutely delighted that shelina has decided to stay. I was so excited when I found out!! she was a crucial part in our survival in the league last season. She is a natural leader with lots of experience. I am so so happy she is staying!!”
When speaking to other fans they said:

“When she first signed on loan last season i was excited to see the impact she would make on the team which i think was significant. In the games she played in she bought experience that i feel we lack in our team. With being an older player who is a Canadian international and has played in some of the top leagues around the world she has a lot to offer and teach our younger players which is what we need to keep developing as team. Making her a permanent signing i think was an exceptionally good decision as she can continue building these relationships with her teammates and keep making a substantial impact on our games”

“i’m so happy that shelina has signed permanently for the hammers. she’s such an great and experienced player to have at the club both on and off the pitch. another player with leadership to add to our squad and hopefully help lead the team to success. i really enjoyed seeing her in claret and blue last season and was extremely happy when it was said she was signing permanently this summer. i’m so looking forward to seeing her play more for us over the upcoming season”
