Manchester United are opening their Women’s Super League season playing under the lights in the theatre of dreams – and not for the final time in the season.
Upon the release of the fixtures for the 2024/25 season, it was revealed that Manchester United would be making the return to Old Trafford for three games, with the first being against West Ham on the weekend of 21/22 September.
The Red Devils normally host their home games at Leigh Sports Village but the growth of support for the women’s team sees the need for a larger ground.
Last season, Mark Skinner’s team played two fixtures at Old Trafford, one of which saw a club-record of a total attendance of 43,615 to watch the Manchester derby against Manchester City.
In addition to hosting the opening game at the stadium, United will also host Crystal Palace on 16 February and will close the season back under the lights with the final league match being against Manchester City on 4 May 2025. This game could be the decider for where Manchester United finish in the table.
“It’s always such a pleasure to play at Old Trafford, and the entire squad are really looking forward to returning there for our season opener against West Ham,” said manager Mark Skinner.
“To then also be back to face Crystal Palace mid-season and then close our WSL campaign against Manchester City is really something for all our great fans to be excited for, and we cannot wait for them all to pack the stands for all three games.”
