Manchester City host Liverpool at the Joie stadium in this Sundays women's super league clash. The hosts currently sit fourth in the table with the Reds sitting in seventh with a ten point difference between the two sides.

Manchester City are coming into this fixture of two back to back victories. The citizens defeated a strong Arsenal side in order to make it into the Women’s league cup final against Chelsea as well as providing a strong performance in the FA cup against Leicester City which saw them progress into the next round. The hosts will be looking to carry their good form over to the WSL after losing three of their last four league games.
Since the absence of Alex Greenwood City have struggled defensively with them conceding 12 gold in their last four fixtures. A huge difference when in comparison to the start of the season when six goals were conceded in their first nine games. The hosts will also be without Lauren Hemp, RisaShimizu and Laura Coombs.
Liverpool will aim to maintain their successful start to this calendar year as they have won four out of five competitive matches. Matt Beards side were made to work against third-tier side Rugby Borough in the FA cup last weekend with Marie Hobinger and Mia Enderby finding the net to seal the side into a quarter final tie against Arsenal.
The visitors have lost their last four competitive meetings with Manchester City since May 2023. Matt Beard said in his press conference: “it’s a good time to play against Man City with their form being up and down.”
He also stated: “These are the type of games you want to thrive in” and when asked how he plans on managing the star centre-forward Khadijah Shaw he said: “it’s foolish to focus on one player, especially against a side like City who have so much quality.”
The reds are likely to be without Niamh Fahey, Jasmine Matthew’s, Hannah Silcock and Sophie Lundgaard due to injury. Whilst Olivia Smith faces her match suspension after picking up her fifth yellow card of the season against West Ham United.
