Manchester City announce the signing of Japan’s Fujino.

Manchester City have signed Aoba Fujino on a three-year contract from Tokyo Verdy Beleza.

Fujino recently competed in the Paris 2024 Olympics with Japan before they faced defeat to the USA in the quarterfinals.

Following this defeat, the forward will now make the journey over to Manchester before joining the rest of the squad as they prepare to travel to Perth for a friendly in late August.

The 20-year-old has had an impressive start to her football career, securing 51 appearances, 24 goals and 17 assists for her former club Tokyo Verdy Beleza.

In her three seasons with Toyko, she has also become a two-time winner of the WE League Valuable Player Award, as well as claiming the Empress Cup.

She also become Japan’s youngest ever goalscorer in the FIFA Women’s World Cup after scoring against Costa Rica.

Fujino becomes Gareth Taylor’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Risa Shimizu and Vivianne Miedema. She will wear the number 20 in the upcoming Women’s Super League season.

When speaking to Manchester City, Fujino said: “In the league, this is a top-level club both physically and technically.

“That is something that I find very appealing, the size of the team and the organisation.

“It’s very important to play in this kind of environment.”

Head Coach, Gareth Taylor, had nothing but positive words to share about the rising star.

“Aoba brings even more excitement and technical quality to the team.

“She is still young but has already established herself on the international stage and we are delighted to bring her to our club.”
