From the beginning of next season, Liverpool Women will call St Helen’s Totally Wicked stadium home as they relocate from Prenton Park.
The club have signed a 10-year lease to partner with the ground, which will be shared with St. Helen’s rugby club.
With the rugby season starting mid-way through the WSL season, Liverpool will have sole use of the stadium for more than half the season.
A brand-new Premier League standard pitch is set to be laid, as well as the stadium giving the Liverpool Women access to all the enhanced and exclusive facilities St. Helen’s can offer.
The move will also provide the Women with their own bespoke dressing room for the first time.
A new capacity of 18,000 will allow greater progress to be made within women’s football, encouraging more fans to experience the match-day thrill. Music, face painting, food and drinks will all be on offer to fans visiting the ground, delivering an improved match-day experience.
Matt Beard’s team currently play all their home games at Prenton Park in Birkenhead, home of the Tranmere Rovers, and have done since 2018. They will play their final home game at Prenton Park against Manchester United on Sunday 5 May, in a battle to claim the fourth-place finish.
Liverpool manager Matt Beard has said he’s “absolutely delighted” with the move, before adding: “At the heart of this move are the two most important groups at the club; the players and the fans.”
The Red’s also have the ambition to play a number of games in the upcoming season at the men’s ground in Anfield, mirroring the advancements of other Women's Super League clubs.
