Tier 7 side, Leyton Orient, hosted Haringey Borough at Brisbane Road in Round 2 of the Combined Counties cup where the latter went on to beat the O’s 8-1.

Two minutes in, the away side were quick off the mark which caught the hosts out and opened the scoring through Caitlen Star.
Despite conceding early, Orient quickly searched for the equaliser. Liliana Almeida’s cross was blocked before a long range effort from Keogh flew over.
Haringey were back on the attack firing over the bar before striking the post from a free kick in the same minute.
However it was the 15th minute where the O’s hit back. Stephanie McCaffrey took possession off the ball just inside the opposition’s half before setting off on a spectacular solo run through multiple Borough players. Sending the ball through the legs of an opponent, her strong long range attempt was fired past the keeper before settling into the bottom left corner, to give Orient the equaliser.
Just 5 minutes Haringey’s skipper, Nellz Humes, drove the ball to near the edge of the box and sent a shot flying past Lottie Behan in goal to retake the lead.
Kallie Balfour then won a free kick for the home side but Keogh’s attempt from the set piece was high and wide of the target.
Within the space of three minutes, Behan made 2 huge saves to deny Haringey from further extending their lead. The first time she closed the angle after rushing out by throwing herself at the ball before the second where she sent herself at the attacker’s feet before Grace Alexander made a vital clearance.
Another goal from Humes shortly followed by a first from Shawna Harvey for Haringey’s third and fourth of the night extended the lead further.
Esme Lancaster made a great last ditch tackle to deny another as well as Behan with two saves, one being from long range, leaving the O’s trailing three goals at the break.
Half-Time: Leyton Orient 1-4 Haringey Borough
Two minutes into the second half, Baker tested the keeper from a distance out but Haringey were the ones to score next, bagging their fifth of the game.
Despite the setback, Orient didn’t give up and another solo run from McCaffrey saw her dodge two defenders and make room for an attempt, which hit the post.
The sixth came just six minutes after this, leading the O’s to trail further behind the side two tiers above them.
McCaffrey won a free kick in a dangerous area and just missed Almeida after being sent in.
A cross from Humes for Haringey was received by Harvey who went on to get the ball under control facing away from the goal, before turning and sending it into the top corner to make it 7 for the away side. This was followed by another shot hitting the bar.
Keogh then hit another free kick wide for the hosts, before McCaffrey came near to finding Almeida making a run through but the pass was hit slightly over.
Borough’s eight and final of the match came shortly after Harvey laid the ball back to Summer Young who tucked it away into the bottom left corner.
With 13 minutes remaining, a handball against Haringey was in a dangerous position and Baker forced the keeper into a strong save from the resulting free kick.
Almeida created another opportunity in the box which was cleared before a brilliant save from Joanna Roman denied Haringey from bagging another in the dying minutes.
After this, Haringey Borough are the ones to claim the third round place in the Combined Counties Cup.
Full-Time: Leyton Orient 1-8 Haringey Borough
