Arsenal defender, Leah Williamson, has signed a new contract with Arsenal FC.

Since making her debut for the senior team in 2014, Williamson has made 232 appearances for Arsenal, and is one of the longest-serving players for the club.

The defender has spent her entire senior career playing as a Gunner, and is not expected to go anywhere soon, as her new contract is a multi-year deal.

The exact length of time remains undisclosed.

The 27-year-old has won a variety of accolades wearing the infamous red and white, including: one Barclays Women's Super League title, four FA Women's Continental Tyres League Cups and two Women's FA Cups, as well as scoring 15 goals across all competitions.

Williamson has also had the honour of captaining the Lionesses to victory, as they became European Champions in 2022.

She will make her next appearance as the captain of the Lionesses this Friday in Newcastle, as England take on France in the next round of the qualifying stages for the EURO 2025 campaign.

“Everyone knows what Arsenal means to me, but I think every time I sign a new contract, I feel that love ignite all over again,” said Williamson in a statement provided to the club.

“I’m very happy to be staying – this is a place where I can still continue to grow, develop and be challenged.

"As a group, we’re all very focused on bringing more silverware to this club and I can’t wait to get started again when the new season comes around.”

Head Coach, Jonas Eidevall has praised Williamson's leadership qualities, adding: "Leah is an essential part of our team so we’re delighted she has signed a new contract with us.

"She brings us so much on and off the pitch – leadership, accountability and commitment.

"Leah has a special bond with Arsenal and I’m looking forward to continuing to work together to bring more success to this great club."
