Kate Longhurst signs for Nottingham Forest!

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Kate Longhurst on a one-year contract upon the expiration of her contract with Charlton Athletic.

Longhurst has a wealth of experience in all leagues across women’s football in the United Kingdom, starting her career in Essex, playing for Colchester United.

After 32 appearances for the club, Longhurst made a move to Chelsea in 2012, where she left her mark after scoring in the FA Cup final.

The 35-year-old has also featured in two Women’s Super League winning teams with Liverpool in 2013 and 2014.

Longhurst then returned to her childhood club, West Ham United, where she remained for 5 years.

During her time wearing the famous Claret and Blue shirt, Longhurst equalled the league’s all-time appearance record in her 182nd game.

The midfielder then joined Championship side, Charlton Athletic, for a singular season before making the move to Trentside.

Head Coach, Carly Davies, has highly praised the success of Longhurst, saying: “We are thrilled to have a player of Kate’s calibre and experience at the Club.

“To have a player in our ranks who has two Women’s Super League winner medals, is a two-time FA Cup runner-up and currently sits amongst the top all-time appearance makers in WSL history – we are over the moon to have her here.

“Kate’s game understanding, combative playing style and competitive nature will serve us well this season and certainly supports the ambition of the Club.”

Longhurst is the first signing for Forest since the news that the club was going fully professional and would be making the move to the City Ground for eleven fixtures.

When speaking to Longhurst, she said: “It’s really exciting being at the start of an adventure when the team is turning professional with the plans that the Club have in place.

“To be one of the first players to join since the news, with the players already here, I’m excited to get started.”
