Is Sonia Bompastor set to replace Emma Hayes?

It has been reported that Chelsea have contacted Lyon manager, Sonia Bompastor, as a possible head coach replacement for Emma Hayes at the end of the season.

It is understood that Bompastor is the first candidate Chelsea have reached out to, and The Athletic reports that Chelsea have offered her the job, and are under-going negotiations.

She had 156 caps for her national team, Lyon, before retiring and taking up a coaching position.

Bompastor is currently contracted with Lyon until 2025 after she took them all the way to winning the Champion's League in 2022, however this could all change. She has also previously coached Kadeisha Buchanan and Catarina Macario, before they made the move to West London.

Have Chelsea finally found USWNT-bound Emma Hayes' successor? Only time will tell.
