Ipswich Town Gear Up to Face Manchester City in FA Cup.

This weekend see’s Gareth Taylor's Manchester City welcome Ipswich Town to the Joie Stadium in the fourth round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup.

Both teams have been in flying form in their respective leagues with Ipswich having an unbeaten run of five games, whilst Manchester City have secured three wins in their last five games.


 Manchester City will be looking to start 2025 off on a positive note, following a 3-0 defeat to Barcelona in their last game of 2024. In addition to this, they also rival Arsenal and Chelsea in the Women's Super League, battling it out for the top spot.


The last time the two sides met was in 2020, when the fifth round of the FA Cup saw the likes of Laura Coombs, Georgia Stanway and Jess Park lock down a 10-0 victory against Ipswich Town.


Ipswich want to continue their flying form in 2025 against Manchester City, with the Blues sitting comfortably in 1st position of the South FA WPL Premier Division on 29 points. Hashtag United trail closely behind Ipswich Town, also sitting on 29 points, with only goal difference separating the pair.


In Manchester City’s recent training camp in Dubai, we have seen the likes of Tara O’Hanlon and Vivianne Miedema return to team training, which could be a big boost for the group. Alex Greenwood remains on an individual training plan after suffering an MCL injury before the winter break.


Ipswich recently announced the arrival of Lauren Phillips as their new Assistant Manager, as well as welcoming loanee Lucy Watson from Chelsea.


Ipswich Town may opt go with an unchanged side from their last outing vs Bournemouth, in which they secured a 1-0 victory that progressed them through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.


The starting starting 11 featured: Negri, Mitchell, Boswell (C), Barker, Robinson, Garrad, Peskett, Hughes, O’Brien and Thomas.


Manchester City may go for a more attacking focused rotation on Sunday, with the likes Khiara Keating, Laura Blindkilde Brown and Laia Aleixandri coming into the starting 11.


This game will take place on Sunday January 12th, with a Kick off time of 1pm BST.
