Herve Renard steps down as France manager.

Herve Renard has stepped down as coach of the France women's football team after France suffered a 1-0 defeat to Brazil in the Olympic quarterfinals.

Since Renard joined the French international team in March 2023, he has managed 26 games in which he claimed 17 wins, three draws and six defeats.

Renard has been apart of the French team since the World Cup after the dismissal of Corinne Diacre. France exited the World Cup in the quarterfinals with a penalty shootout against Australia (The longest penalty shootout in World Cup history).

France had an eventful journey in the 2024 Paris Olympics before leaving the competition in the quarter-finals after Brazil claimed victory.

This departure hasn’t come as a shock to many as there has been speculation of his departure since the EURO 2025 Qualifiers.

It is believed that he will be going  back to manage a men’s team - we do not know if this is true. 

Before Renard accepted the position and became manager for France in the World Cup, Renard had previous experience in international football and management of national teams.

He previously managed Saudi Arabia in the men’s World Cup, making him the first coach to manage teams in two different senior World Cups in the same year. Renard also became the second manager to have coached at both the men's and women's World Cups after John Herdman.

France has always been a national team who are destined for success and greatness, but in recent years they have been disappointed with only reaching semi finals and quarterfinals since 2013 and one final in the nations league which they lost.

With a team with so much talent and potential, France will be looking for a new manager who will help them live up to all the expectations and who will be able to bring out the best in these talented players.
