Gio Queiroz has joined Atlético de Madrid on a permanent transfer upon the expiration of her contract with Arsenal.
The 21-year-old joined Arsenal at the start of the 2022/23 season, spending two seasons at the club. She initially joined Everton on loan, playing 11 games for the Toffees, scoring 1 goal for the club. She then made 12 appearances for Arsenal during the 22/23 season.
Prior to joining Madrid CFF on loan during the 23/24 winter transfer window, she made her final appearance for the Gunners in a behind closed doors friendly against Feyenoord.
Madrid CFF placed 6th in Liga F in the 23/24 season, with Gio netting 9 goals in 16 games for the club. Atlético de Madrid placed 3rd in Liga F, putting them in the Champions League qualifiers, where they will face Rosenborg, and will possibly face the winner of Arsenal/Rangers.
Gio joins the Spanish side for an undisclosed fee through the 2027 season. This will be her second spell at the club, after spending 3 years of her youth career at the club between 2014 and 2017. The 21 year old has made 13 senior appearances for Brazil.
Queiroz took to the club's instagram to say she was ‘very stoked to sign for the athletic.’
She becomes the clubs sixth signing in the summer transfer window.
