This Sunday see’s a heavyweight clash in the Barclay’s WSL with Manchester United taking the trip to London as they face Chelsea at Kingsmeadow with a kick-off time of 12pm.
Sonia Bompastor’s Chelsea have had an absolute flying start to the season with 7 wins in 7 games with just 3 goals conceded and 22 goals scored, saying a lot about the team before you even watch them play, Marc Skinner even went as far as saying “Chelsea are the hardest task in Europe”.
On the other hand, many Manchester Utd fans have frequently been questioning Marc Skinner’s management and coaching skills with what they call a “quite dry” run of form with consistent draws and a lack of flavour to their attacking play. Man Utd sit 5th in the table but overall are in a great position as they are too unbeaten this season, this may be down to the recent performances of their Goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce.
Chelsea announced a major blow to the team recently with their star studded centre back Kadeisha Buchanan suffering an ACL injury against Liverpool on the 10th of November. Niamh Charles is now back in full training with the squad after a dislocated shoulder injury but will fall short of being involved on Sunday along with Sam Kerr and Mia Fischel also still out with Acl injuries.
Man Utd will also be without their number 7 and vice captain Ella Toone as the club announced this week she may be out till 2025 with a torn calf. Hannah Blundell is out on maternity leave, Terland is out with a groin injury and Aoife Mannion looks to be falling just short of being included in the squad too with what is said to be a very minor muscle injury.
Both teams may make changes with the likes of Watson, Mallard, Galton and Miyazawa coming into Utd’s squad while Chelsea may or may not have an unchanged side to the one against City, but the likes of Macario and Beever-Jones will more then likely appear.
Tickets for Sunday's game sold out in both the home and away sections with the atmosphere set to be amazing. This game is available and will be broadcasted on Sky Sports Football with coverage starting at 11:30am.
