Liverpool hosted Chelsea in the first game of the four Women’s Super League games taking place this Sunday. Sonia Bompastor’s Chelsea side won 0-3 and kept their winning streak going, with six wins in six games so far this season.

Liverpool got the game underway and almost instantly. Liverpool went on the attack and won a corner in the early stages of the game, this shot took a deflection and went out for another Liverpool corner. Chelsea cleared the danger and then Chelsea pushed forward however, Ramirez couldn't find an opportunity to take a shot in the opening stages of the game.
Smith and Kiernan provided moments of excellence for Liverpool, however they struggled to find any real opportunities to convert.
Chelsea took control of possession and had chances which were claimed by Laws or led to a set piece opportunity for Chelsea.
On the break, Liverpool looked dangerous and had a real attacking threat - most of these chances came from Kiernan, a player who Chelsea know is capable of scoring, after the last time this fixture took place.
In the 37th minute, Rytting Kaneryd’s shot was deflected off the bar but fortunately for her, Mayra Ramirez claimed the rebound and put the visitors 0-1 up in the last ten minutes of added time.
Chelsea broke forward just moments later with Cuthbert taking an ambitious shot which went into the stands. Then, just four minutes after their first, Reiten got Chelsea’s second of the afternoon.
Chelsea dominated possession in the closing stages and three minutes were added on at the end of the first half. Liverpool won a corner in the time added on but nothing came from it. Liverpool headed forward again but play was stopped after a foul on a Chelsea player.
HALF TIME: Liverpool 0 - 2 Chelsea
Bompastor’s side started the second half with a substitution which saw Lawrence replace Bronze. Throughout the second half, Lawrence’s performance - alongside Buchanan, her Canadian teammate - proved critical to keeping her side’s lead and clean sheet.
Liverpool had a bright attack forward in the 47th minute however there was not any real opportunity for them to shoot and eventually it was cleared away by Chelsea. Moments later, Hamano broke away excellently and found Rytting Kaneryd; Chelsea continued to have chances but Liverpool did well to defend..
Liverpool still showed excellent determination both attacking and defending despite being 0-2 down. Kiernan and Smith, as well as occasional linkups with Hobinger, really provided Liverpool with great chances towards goal.
Holland came close to getting one back for Liverpool however, there was no one to help her out, the ball trickled across the front of Hannah Hamptons goal.
With a few minutes between each, Liverpool and Chelsea both made changes to their sides with Enderby replacing Kiernan for Liverpool and Beever-Jones replacing Rytting Kaneryd for Chelsea.
Possession was maintained by Chelsea and from this they managed to win set pieces. In the 70th minute they won a corner, it was played short and almost went into the net after a long distance shot.
Chelsea and Liverpool each made a double change with Silcock and Daniels being introduced for Liverpool, and Macario and Kaptein making their way onto the pitch for Chelsea.
In the closing ten minutes of the game, Chelsea maintained possession but no real chances on goal fell for them until - In the final minute of the 90, Substitute Aggie Beever-Jones provided for her side in consecutive weekends and scored Chelsea’s third of the afternoon from close range.

The referee blew her whistle for full time and Chelsea’s dominance under Sonia Bompastor continues. Liverpool next face Rivals Everton at Goodison Park and Chelsea host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
