Aston Villa fans leave Poundland Bescot delighted after the team thrashed Bristol Rovers 9-0 this evening, which leads them into the fifth round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

The Villains were extremely dominant, taking 72% of possession and having an astonishing 40 shots on goal, compared to the Rovers double shots.
Lineups saw goalkeeper Sabrina D’angelo in claret and blue, alongside Captain Rachel Daly and Ireland defender Anna Patten. The substitute bench sees Kirsty Hanson and Noelle Maritz lined up, alongside Jill Baijings. Lucy Parker and Missy Bo Kearns are still out with injuries.
Bristol Rovers place George Hunt in goal, alongside Daisy Ackerman and Rianne Bourne-Hallett leading the side, the substitute bench holding Annys Turner and Emily Baylis.
Aston Villa started off dominant, with their first goal coming within the first two minutes of the game from a far post header by Rachel Daly.
The next goal for the Villans comes shortly after, with Gabi Nunez slotting the ball home after a pass from Ebony Salmon into the box.
In the seventh minute, a long ball from Mayling to Daly puts Villa 3-0 up via a header.
Their fourth goal comes after an attempted clear from Bristol Rovers keeper George Hunt, but is recovered by Leon and shot into the net by Paula Tomás.
The fifth goal for the Villains comes minutes later after a volley from Gabi Nunes.
What would’ve been a hattrick in the 38th minute for Daly after a long ball from Taylor was ruled as offside. In a matter of minutes, another attempt at a hattrick for Rachel Daly was also cancelled out by the flag.
Third time was not the charm for Daly as again, her goal was cancelled by offside.
A minute of extra time allows Villa to put more pressure on the visitors until the whistle blew, marking the end of a jam-packed first half.

The second half saw some substitutes for Villa including Sophia Poor coming on for Sabrina D’anglo, Adrianna Leon coming off for Chasity Grant, Kirsty Hanson replacing Ebony Salmon and Jill Baijings stepping onto the pitch for the first time in claret and blue.
The first goal in the second half arrived in just seconds, with fresh substitute Chasity Grant making her mark in result of a cross from the left wing into the box from Hanson.
Away fans were delighted to see a solid chance from Bristol Rovers’ Meg Jarvis, but the attempt was saved by Sophia Poor.
Kirsty Hanson managed to get herself on the scoresheet, giving the home team their seventh goal of the game.
The 57th minute sees a double change for the visitors, with Poppy Warren being replaced by Emily Baylis, and Charlotte Buxton coming off for Annys Turner.
The 64th minute sees a header from Gabi Nunez, resulting in her gaining her first hat trick since 2021.
Aston Villa makes another single change, seeing Ireland international Anna Patten make way for former gunner Noelle Maritz. Bristol Rovers follow in suite a few moments later, with Nia Rees departing the soil in change for Emison Evans.
Another shot on goal for Bristol Rovers was collected by Sophia Poor, and Emily Bayliss gets her name in the book moments later after a yellow card was issued.
Villas’ 9th goal came from summer signing Jill Baijings, slotting the ball home in her first appearance for the club.
2 minutes of extra time was added to the game, but no goals were saw before the final whistle, the match ending 9-0 to the Villans.
Aston Villa now set their eyes on their next match in the Women’s Super League as they travel to Liverpool to play Everton, and Bristol Rovers face Cheltenham Town next weekend at home.
