This Friday, 5th place Arsenal will play host to 3rd place Brighton at the Emirates Stadium with a kick-off time of 7pm in game week 7 of the Women’s Super League.
Brighton are looking to continue their successful start to the season with 3 wins in their last 5 games, while Arsenal are hoping to pick up form after a second-rate start to the season causing the farewell of Head Coach Jonas Eidevall after game week 4 while interim manager Renee Sledger takes charge for guaranteed the next 5 games.
In the last 5 previous meetings between the two teams the Gunners have been triumphant winners over the Seagull’s with an aggregate score of 19-0 with the likes of Alessia Russo, Frida Maanum and Jordan Nobbs writing their names on the scoresheet.
Brighton’s Nikita Parris is in flying form at the moment with 3 goals in 6 games while scoring what Brighton boss Dario Vidošić described as “a real striker's goal” against Leicester and is also the 2nd top scorer so far this season in the WSL so she may be one to watch out for in your fantasy team!
Arsenal are predicted to go with a similar yet solid team to the one vs Manchester United last sunday starting Van Domselaar in goals with the likelihood of Williamson and McCabe included in defense, a midfield which we could see rotated between the likes of Maanum and Cooney-Cross and an attack which could be similar to past games with Russo and Foord’s names some of the first down on the team sheet. Brighton may also go unchanged from their last game with Baggaley in goal alongside Bergsvand in defence, a midfield consisting of Kirby and Pattinson while the attack will see Parris playing the number 9 role for the Seagull’s.
Tickets for this Friday's game are ranging from £8.65 to £24.15 on the Arsenal FC website with 20 thousand tickets being sold so far and plenty more still to be sold. This fixture will be shown on the WSL youtube channel with coverage starting at 7pm UK time.
