Anna Sandberg is a Red Devil.

The 21-year-old has just signed a three-year contract with Manchester United, with an option for a further year.

She will be joining the English club effective immediately, with United paying her release clause. Her former club, BK Häcken, are currently second in the Damallsvenskan, with 11 games still to go.

Sandberg spent two and a half seasons at the Swedish club, scoring 4 goals in the 2024 season, despite primarily being a left back.

She has also made 5 appearances for the Swedish women’s national team, making her senior debut against China in February 2023, before being named part of the squad for the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Marc Skinner’s side placed 5th overall in the WSL, their top goal scorer being Nikita Parris who recently signed a one year extension with the club. They also came out on top in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, with a 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the final.

Sandberg took to United’s Instagram to say she is ‘very happy and grateful to sign for this big club.’ She is their third signing this summer, following former VFL Wolfsburg defender Dominique Janssen, Brighton and Hove Albion superstar Elisabeth Terland, as well as signing French international Melvine Malard on a permanent deal.

The side will come head to head with West Ham United on the opening day of the 24/25 WSL season.
