USA vs Germany preview

Tuesday evening will see the USA and Germany go head to head for a place in the finals.

The winners are going for gold and the losers of this game going for a bronze medal.

This isn’t the first time that the USA have met Germany in this tournament, with the USA gaining a 4-1 win over Germany.

The USA will be looking to replicate the result to send them into the final.

With both games in the quarter finals going to extra time the teams will need to be rested, but Germany will be feeling on top of the world after Ann-Katrin Berger sent Germany through in a nail-biting shoot-out.

Germany will want redemption and revenge over the 4-1 loss they suffered in the group stages.

Germany have been looking pretty strong throughout the tournament with Ann-Katrin Berger in between the sticks.

Berger has been a crucial part of the German team so far especially in their last game,  where she made fantastic saves in the penalty shootout and then when she scored the winning goal that sent them through to the semi finals.

Germany have been keeping the same formation through the stages of the game with a 4-4-2.

They have also been keeping a similar line up, with Hegering coming in against Canada replacing Schulze-Solano.

There has also been a slight change in the number nine roll , with Nüsken taking it in the Last  of the group stage games and Popp taking it against Canada so it will be interesting to see where Popp will be playing in the field against the USA.

America have been looking strong in  this tournament, winning every game in their group and then the quarter-finals, with Trinity Rodman scoring the only goal in the match against Japan, which went to extra time.

The USA have also been keeping the same formation throughout the games with a 4-1-2-3.

They have been keeping there lineups fairly similar but where forced into a change when Coffey picked up a one game suspension due to picking up too many yellow cards in the game leading up, Albert then took Coffey place against Japan.
