Match Preview: Arsenal face Manchester City in the penultimate game of the WSL.

Arsenal will travel to the Joie Stadium for the first time this season as they face top-of-the-table opponent, Manchester City.

When the two teams last met, Gareth Taylor’s side managed to knock Arsenal out of the Women’s FA Cup final, all thanks to Laia Aleixandri striking the ball past D’Angelo from a close range.

Manchester City then went on to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Quarter-Finals but fell short on penalties after Greenwood and Kelly had their shots saved.

Arsenal will be looking to show a response to last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Everton in the Barclays Women’s Super League after they failed to find their footing, unable to push themselves ahead.

But Manchester City won’t let the Gunners get away with an easy win, as Manchester City need to keep their current 5-game winning streak continuing if they want to remain in the title race against London opponent, Chelsea.

A 4-0 victory at Ashton Gate Stadium saw Manchester City add to their commanding goal difference against Chelsea, meaning they now hold an 8-goal advantage over the blues.

Team news:

For Arsenal, Vivianne Miedema will be absent from the squad due to needing minor treatment on her knee.

Goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo will return to the squad after she missed the Gunner’s last game against Everton.

Other members who will be absent include: Amanda Ilestedt (pregnancy), Kaylan Marckese (ACL), Lina Hurtig (back injury) and Lia Walti (knee injury).

For Manchester City, Khadija Shaw is missing as she suffered a broken foot in their game against West Ham.

Jill Roord is also absent due to suffering an ACL injury, as well as goalkeeper Sandy McIver, who also sustained an ACL injury.

The game is set to be broadcasted on BBC 1, as well as the FA Player.
