Leicester City ended Chelsea’s winning streak in a 1-1 draw at King Power Stadium.

A game of frustration for Chelsea resulted in their first time dropping points this season. Before this game, Chelsea had won all nine of the nine games played. Leicester’s excellent defensive performance stopped Bompastor’s side from gaining the three points.

Mayra Ramirez got the game underway after the referees whistle and early on in the game, Chelsea maintained possession and had a few goalscoring opportunities in the second minute of the game. Guro Reiten went down with what looked like an injury however she eventually returned back to her feet.
Leicester City were forced into an early change after Deanne Rose could not continue due to an injury. Missy Goodwin came onto the pitch in place of her - a player who proved crucial to this result for Leicester.
Chelsea came close after Guro Reiten hit the bar just before the fifteen minute mark. A chance which Chelsea should have capitalised on to put themselves ahead.
1-0 Goodwin 19’
In the nineteenth minute of the game, Leicester ran excellently through the Chelsea squad and substitute Missy Goodwin put the home side ahead.
At this point of the game, you could see the goal gave Leicester a huge confidence boost and determination to get something out of this game.
Both teams had good flashes of opportunities in the closing stages of the first half however Chelsea seemed deflated after the Leicester goal. The away side dominated possession and chances but they just could not find any way into the back of the net.
Half time: 1-0
The second half began and Sonia Bompastor introduced Catarina Macario and Niamh Charles on the pitch and Maika Hamano and Ashley Lawrence departed.
Chelsea had a large number of corners in this game however they were poor and did not cause Leicester too much panic.
Leicesters defending performance was excellent throughout the second half and did well to keep Chelsea striker Mayra Ramirez from scoring.
Both sides introduced new players with Chelsea introducing Aggie Beever-Jones and Leicester introducing Shannon O Brien and Nelly Las.
Chelsea had opportunities through Catarina Macario and Aggie Beever-Jones but they were kept out by excellent defensive work particularly from Howard. Bernabe - made her debut for the away side in this game and she definitely had some bright moments for Chelsea.
1-1 Kaptein 76’
In the 76th minute, teenager Wieke Kaptein found the back of the net for Chelsea and Mayra Ramirez immediately ran to claim the ball back for a quick restart to try and get more than a point out of the game.
Chelsea seemed extremely determined to find a winner now but Leicester's defense kept them from doing so. The best opportunity came from Sjoeke Nusken but the ball went over the net and Chelsea players dropped to the floor in dissapointment.
Full time 1-1
Neither side could convert to find the winner and the whistle for full time blew. Leicester City with a defensive performance to be proud of and a great result for the home side. This draw was Chelsea’s first time dropping points this season - something the London side will have been disappointed in.
Leicester now have six points with ten games played and Chelsea have 28 points with ten games played. Chelsea still remain unbeaten this season and they have one last game before the winter break away in Spain against Real Madrid in the champions league.
