Leah Williamson becomes Arsenal's All Time WSL Appearance Record Holder

Arsenal's game against Everton saw vice captain Leah Williamson become the record holder for the most appearances for the Gunners, taking over from Jordan Nobbs with 158 WSL appearances, as opposed to Jordan's 157 in her 12 years at Arsenal.

Leah started at Arsenal’s academy at the age of 9, and has been with the club ever since. Signing her first professional contract at 18, she went on to play her first senior game the next day, and has become one of the most popular players in women's football.

Leah's love for Arsenal began as a child, when she went to her first Arsenal game with her mum, Amanda. Despite her dad, David, and younger brother, Jacob, being Tottenham Hotspur fans, Leah was drawn to Arsenal, and frequently talks about her love for the club. She signed her most recent contract for Arsenal in May 2024, 19 years since beginning her Arsenal journey. She said in her interview when signing her most recent contract, “Everyone knows what Arsenal means to me, but I think every time I sign a new contract, I feel that love ignite all over again. I’m very happy to be staying – this is a place where I can still continue to grow, develop and be challenged.”

In April 2023, Leah suffered when she ruptured her ACL in a game against Manchester United. She made her comeback on 24th January 2024, in which she discussed how “emotional” the day was, as well as how much she loved and missed playing for Arsenal during her rehab.

With 158 appearances in the WSL for Arsenal, Leah is on the road to achieving many more major milestones, and at only 27, she has a lot of time to achieve more amazing things and inspire people all over the world for many different reasons, whilst she does what she loves the most.
