Arsenal v Valerenga - Match Preview

Wednesday October 17th Arsenal take on Valerenga at the Emirates. The sides have never faced off before, and Valerenga have never qualified for the Women’s Champions League before.

Arsenal will be coached by Renee Slegers who has taken over as interim head coach, after Jonas Eidevalls departure was announced earlier today.

Valerenga suffered a 1-0 defeat to Juventus on October 9th, with Sofia Cantore scoring in the 29th minute. Arsenal also suffered defeat, being beaten 5-2 away at Bayern Munich, with a late second half hattrick from Pernille Harder causing the team to lose.

Valerenga and Arsenal fall in the bottom half of Group C, behind Bayern Munich (who lead on goal difference) and Juventus.

Valerenga are currently top of the Norwegian Toppserien, 11 points clear of Brann. Arsenal on the other hand are 6th in the Women's Super League, after only winning 1 of their 4 matches so far.

Lina Hurtig rejoins the Arsenal matchday squad after almost a year of not appearing for the club due to personal reasons. Laura Wienroither, Victoria Pelova and Amanda Ilestedt all remain out for this week's Champions League game.
